In our experience, today’s leaders often have a well-developed cognitive and rational perspective (‘the head’). In a complex world, relying only on fact-based decision making is not enough to solve the challenges we are facing or capture emerging opportunities. Presented with incomplete and incompatible information, analysis and categorization is moot. Cause and effect relationships are not obvious in a complex environment, therefore effective decision-making requires the ability to probe, sense and respond. Enacting these decisions requires the ability to engage with a deeper intent.
