Executive Learning Partnership

Why ELP?

Business and society have moved from growth cycles connected to ‘simple’ and more technocratic ‘complicated’ worlds to a ‘complex’ environment: more interactive, collaborative, purpose oriented, multi-contextual, transparent and non-linear.

Thriving in an increasingly complex world requires you to move from “command & control” management to “connect & collaborate” leadership, and replace a reactive orientation to the world around you by a more pro-active mindset and attitude.

Growth and innovation in this complex world ask for next generation leadership and strategizing, a leadership that connects and collaborates, internally and externally. In the absence of such leadership, chaos can emerge from the uncertainty.

Through our experience in business and academia, Executive Learning Partnership aims to help leaders, their teams and their organizations to develop concrete roadmaps for transformation and expand the strategic and leadership repertoire. This expanded repertoire of next generation leadership is necessary to overcome the double growth paradox brought by the combined challenge of stagnating markets and the necessity to redefine growth in a new, more value-oriented approach.

A complex world requires
next generation leadership

We see a need for ‘next generation’ leadership whereby leaders must increasingly:

  • Acknowledge the complexity of many of the contexts they operate in, the limitations of their knowledge and the boundaries of rationality in this environment
  • Provide direction without killing freedom and creativity – and provide freedom without losing direction.
  • Lead through common values and behaviours as well as shared aspirations, and drive the creation of the collective and individual purpose and intent.
  • Enable the right conversations, articulate emerging themes, reconcile dilemmas and formulate intellectually compelling and emotionally engaging futures.
  • Act with courage and creativity, tolerate the discomfort of not knowing and not being in complete control
  • Empower talent to act into the unknown, to connect with emerging futures through discovery and self-organizing for agile adaptation
  • Know how to leverage the new rules of interaction, inside and outside the organisation – accelerated by technology – to his/her benefit
